Busy Bunnies

We celebrated our wedding anniversary this week. We don't really do anything special, I like to think all our days together are special, but this year it fell on a Thursday, which is a Zackary day.

I thought Zack would enjoy helping me do some tidying up. We went into the kitchen where I used my long handled dustpan and brush and I gave Zack the small one. I swept up and Zack marched up and down the kitchen loving his new responsibility.

After all the sweeping, Zack used Andy's new bucket to put all his toys in and out of. It really shows how there's no need to buy children all these fancy toys when he was in his element with a brush and a bucket?

I've been doing a spot of sewing over the weekend. I bought myself some lovely grey felt especially to use with this

Isn't she a cute little bunny. All the pattern pieces were full size (I really don't like it when things need enlarging or changing) so I just used some tracing paper to copy them and cut the pieces out of the felt with pretty fabric for the inner ears and soles of her feet.

I really enjoyed just sitting and stitching, all the seams are oversewn so they're visible, but I found it quite therapeutic.

I think she's turned out really well. She has buttons for eyes and buttons at the tops of her arms so they can move up and down as she gets dressed and undressed. I thought she looked quite cute as she is so didn't sew a nose on her as I didn't want to spoil her.

The next step is to make some clothes for the little bunny and there's even a pattern to make a little armchair for her, but we'll have to see. The clothes need machine stitching, so they may take me a while.

Take care
xxx

  2. What cuties, both Zack and the bunny. I always found that my kids loved playing with the boxes rather than the toys when they were really little. I love the pattern detail on the bunny's ears and feet. Happy anniversary, I hope you both had a lovely day.

  5. I love Luna Lapin; she's adorable and what fun making her a wardrobe! You are so talented. I have taken sewing classes but I don't have the knack it seems. ( or should that be 'seams'?)

    Belated Happy Anniversary!!

  8. Happy Anniversary!

It's not necessary to go out and do some thing special. :-)

And of course, your time with Zack is always special.

Oh yes! Give them a "job" to do!!! Oh yes! They love it.

And it also teaches a good lesson, early on. If this continues (at home too), they will simply 'know' that everyone pitches in, on household chores. No big deal. It will always have been so. At each age, to the extent of their abilities.

Adorable "Luna"!!! But with her long ears, I'd call her a hare, instead of a bunny. I love hares!!!!

  10. Happy Anniversary! That's so true about children. My little brothers loved playing with keys and pots and pans. Children know how to delight and amuse themselves.

  14. She is super cute.Zachary is growing up fast, I have Will on a Monday so yesterday he helped me in the garden, he picked up leaves from the lawn into a box and then put them in the bag at the bottom of the garden, they learn very quickly. As always when we finished the garden, we picked ripe berries to enjoy.

Oh my goodness that rabbit is so cute! I've seen something similar on Sew and So website and wondered how fiddly they would be to sew up?
When I used to look after Oliver he loved to help me clean, it took me twice as long but it kept him occupied, shopping was his favourite, he loved to go round the supermarket picking the things off the list, they are learning at the same time too :-)
