Bit of Shopping and Lovely Dogs

Thank you for your lovely comments and ideas. After the excitement from making up my tapestry cushions, I felt spurred on to finish a small rug making cushion kit that had been around of a while. I'm not a big fan of rug making, I find it a little monotonous, but it was something to have on my lap while watching TV. I haven't made it into a cushion yet, but will get it sorted soon (I also have another rug cushion kit somewhere that Imogen started and decided she wasn't fussed about).

We've been out and about today, having a little wander around the charity shops. I do feel we can look for ages and never find anything, other days it's like there are things sitting there waiting for us.

I've been looking for some cute eggcups with the intention of making some pincushions. Look what I found...

2 sweet little cats

and this very cute Hello Kitty eggcup. I really wasn't looking for cats, they just found me.

My other find was this lovely piece of Fauna. I have a few pieces of Fauna already, I wrote about a few of them here

I have plans for this piece, which I'll hopefully get round to sooner rather than later (so many ideas and things to do).

Just before I go, here are Alfie and Gary cuddled next to me, I spend my evenings with a little dog pyramid squished next to me most nights.

Alfie popping up to say hello, how cute is this...

... and for all the dog lovers out there (did you know here in the UK we have more dog owners as a percentage than anywhere else), this is just for the smiles (and a few ouches).

Cosy Cushions

I've dusted it off and pulled my poor neglected sewing machine out. I have so many ideas of things I want to make and sew, but I'm not experienced or confident when it comes to sewing. A good place to start is with a couple of tapestry cross stitch cushion fronts that I've made (the only way I can get better is by practising it more).

I've shown this cute Bambi cross stitch before when I was making it way back in January (it was a Christmas present).

When it was finished I put it away and found another one I'd started, but hadn't got round to finishing, then when both were finished they sat next to each other in a cupboard full of good intentions until I pulled them out the other day.

So here we go, I found some gorgeous spotty fabric in 2 different colours, pink and green, to use as cushion backs. Measured and cut it so it would fit the back in an envelope style.... not ready to face zips or buttons yet.

I'm sure a seasoned sewer would whip these up very quickly, I went slowly and cautiously, measuring twice and pinning. It was quite easy, so an excellent project to get me sewing.

After completing the first one my confidence grew a little and the second one was quicker.

Feeling quite pleased with myself, I placed them the sofa.

I mustn't leave it too long before getting the sewing machine back out, find something else that's suitable for my amateur level to build on my confidence.

Do you sew? what sort of projects did you start with?

Exciting Things

It was my baby girl's birthday yesterday, she became a teenager! She had a great weekend, celebrating on Saturday by going to Laser Quest with her big brother and best friend, then a slumber party in the living room with a group of friends from school. Then yesterday, her birthday, a trip out to Frankie and Benny's for a slap up meal.

She ordered a sundae nearly as big as her head! The waiter brought it out singing Happy Birthday to her and it came with 4 spoons, which was good as Imogen was soon beaten, She had a wonderful evening, we all did.

My excitement has continued into today with my order of wool arriving this morning. I ordered a few balls of the lovely Stylecraft yarn the other day, including the 3 new colours. I think they're gorgeous! The new colours are Petrol, Parma Violet and Sage.

I ordered a few more to go with them. Isn't it nicely packaged and presented.

All the wool came in pretty Organza bags, which are lovely for storing them in. Here are all my other lovelies with them.

I've also finished a cushion to go with the ripple throw I made.

I do love the bright colours, so cheerful. I found some pretty wooden buttons in my button stash (I do love buttons).

There are so many things I have in my head that I want to make. I think I'll make myself a shawl next so I can wrap it round me when I go into the garden and it's a bit chilly... it's very chilly now! We seem to have lost the sunniness from last week, but what is it they say... ne'er cast a clout till May is out, so I think it's OK to make myself another clout!

Happy Father's Day

Hello and thank you to everyone who gave me so much help over my cushion dilemma (pictures further down). I apologise for not getting back sooner, but lost my bloggy mojo for a few weeks, but I'm back again and can't wait to go and catch up with everyone... it may take me awhile as my catch up list is quite long!

Firstly I'd like to say Happy Father's day to all the dads out there and mums who have to double up as dads too.

We've had a lovely family day out and about. In the morning there was some plane flying

Then Adam took us out for a meal and we went on to the coast

Beautiful sunny day

Andy was nice and spoilt (as he deserves to be)

So while he sits and enjoys his sherbert, I'll show you some pictures of my round flower cushion...

Here's the back.

I'm really pleased with it, think I may make another one in colours to match our bedroom.

So off to catch up with you all

WIPs, Pretty Finds and another Cushion!

I'll start with the cushion as that's something finished. It was so easy and quick to finish my last one that I thought I should crochet another cushion. I used bits and pieces left over in my wool stash.

There wasn't enough of the peach colour to use on both sides.

Two big granny squares, instant gratification!

My other crafty endeavours are WIPs, I love this cushion. I haven't made a round one before and after much web searching came across Attic 24 and Lucy's flower pattern.

I think it's so pretty and the colours go together well. The instructions are lovely and clear, I've still got a way to go though.

Here's my other WIP is in early stages, but will hopefully not take too long.

I think you may guess what it is :)

A friend brought me a couple of pretty china mugs, and it just so happens I already had a lovely jug to match the pattern.

Not much matches, so what a lovely coincidence :)

Before I pop off to cook some tea, I'll just share some more puppy pics. 2 have homes now, just 2 more happy homes to find. So cute, with big floppy ears... and big appetites!
