Birthday Lap Quilt and Slimmer of the Month

I've noticed there are a few of us out here in blogland following the Slimming World plan to lose weight and adapt to a healthier lifestyle. I thought I'd share with you my latest success as I joined Slimming World at the end of April and have been following the food plan since then

I go to a lovely group with really supportive people and I have to say a rather wonderful consultant who always fills me with inspiration each week. This was my third slimmer of the month award, I'm getting a wardrobe full of certificates!

Thank you for all the kind wishes for my parents. Mum's home from hospital and trying to take it easy while also caring for my Dad, if you ask them, they say they're 'muddling through', it's not easy, but they're coping.

On a lighter note, it's Dad's birthday today so I thought I'd show you the lap quilt I've made for him.

It's brushed cotton so lovely and soft. I bought the fabric in a pack from Hobbycraft and thought it would make a lovely lap quilt for my dad when it gets cooler. I sandwiched a layer of light wadding in it so it's not too heavy. It was posted at the beginning of the week so arrived in plenty of time for Dad's birthday today and he says he loves it. We also sent him the full box set of The Detectorists, a lovely gentle humoured series set in the English countryside that I know he'll enjoy.

Take care
xxx

  1. Congratulations on your weight loss. I had to convert stones to pounds ( 3 stones equals 42 pounds!!) You are amazing!

Also, I like the quilt you made for your father. It's not always easy to find "masculine" fabric but you managed to choose very nice prints.

  4. Well done! I'm struggling with SW at the moment, and had my lowest weight loss ever this morning. There are some people at our group who like the sound of their own voice too much, and others who have started with the 'you don't need to lose any more' comments, which I am ignoring!

  8. Dear Cheryl
Congratulations on the weight loss. I lost 2 stone with SW last year and have kept it off, so it certainly worked for me. The lap quilt is lovely (we enjoyed The Detectorists too).

  9. Wow, you've done so well, have you lost that amount since the end of April? Well done. Glad to hear your mum is home from hospital. I think it helps when there's two of them, they do muddle though together. The lap blanket is lovely, I like the fabrics you chose, it will be lovely and cosy for your dad in the winter months.

    1. Thank you, yes, since I joined. It’s a relief to have mum home, it was a terrible strain on my dad going to and from the hospital every day x

  13. Awww....well done you on the weight loss. That is amazing.

I just love the fabric you used for your Dad's lap quilt. I've not seen that in our Hobbycraft else there would be some in my stash for sure.

  20. Your weight loss is spectacular. So very difficult to do.

And a delightful quilt you made for your Dad. Happy Birthday to him.

"The Detectorists, a lovely gentle humoured series set in the English countryside..." This certainly sounds like a nice, nice show. I do love all shows set in your beautiful country's lovely countryside. And gentle humoured also sounds perfect. Must look and see if it is offered on our BBC shows on Prime.

  21. Belated birthday wishes to your dad. You have had a busy time this last month with various celebrations. His quilt is lovely, the pattern and the colours. Hope his op goes well.
Graham has just joined SW.I'm in the middle of sorting some meal plans. Lunches are the meal I'm finding tricky for ideas.
Well done on your weight loss.
