Keeping Warm

Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes, they're very appreciated and every one made me smile as I read them.

I'm glad my birthday was when it was as we've all been struck down with hacking coughs and colds since then. Andrew started it off and passed it along, temperatures, headaches, sore throats, coughs and runny noses. It seems to be passing just leaving the horrible coughs (they always seem to linger), but meant half term was a bit of a washout and we spent most of our time in the house watching films, reading, eating homemade soup and keeping warm.

I'm discipling myself to stay with stitching Zackary's Christmas stocking and not to start any more stitching projects until this one is finished... even though I can hear them calling for me...

Still quite a bit to do, but it's really taking shape now.

To give my eyes a break from the stitching, I've started to crochet another blanket, something for my hands to do in an evening when we sit down to watch TV.

I have my first Hyacinth bulbs of the year growing in a pot

We're not the only ones staying in the warm, these 3 just wouldn't smile for the camera today.

Little Gary (the white one) doesn't like to go outside without his jumper on and likes to nestle up next to Honey and Alfie. I've put an old cushion in their bed to make it more snug.

Hope you're all keeping nice and snug too.

Take care
xxx

  1. The beautiful sunshine over the last 4 days has been a welcome relief from the full grey cold. Jan-Feb is normally the highest gas/elec bill. The Christmas stocking is coming along nicely.

  4. Hope you feel better soon. I do the same thing with projects. New ones call to me before I finish what I’m working on. And I always have a blanket by the chair for tv watching and car trips. Cute pups! Have a good week.

  7. Awww, the dogs made me laugh turning their faces away from the camera. Your stitching is really coming along now, though I know how hard it can be to concentrate on just one project when there's so many other lovely things that catch your eye. It's nice to have different things to pick up at different times but it can mean that you don't see so much progress on any one thing. I hope you're all feeling better now, I've heard of a few people being struck down with one thing or another over half term, I think there must be lots of bugs going around at the moment.

    1. I think it’s that time of year when all the viruses and bugs come out. I’m sure our dogs conspire together when I try to take photos x

  8. My vote is with the dogs, snuggled up inside is the best place when it is cold and damp outside. I keep looking at blanket patterns but we are on overload as it is. Plus I seem to be on a shawl kick right now.

  9. The colours of your new crochet project remind me of ice cream.
Too cold to be thinking of that right now though!
Hope all the germs leave the household soon and that everyone is feeling better.

  17. Feel better soon! Hubby got it and has had it for a while as it seems to linger, but I've been lucky enough not to catch it. I love your stitching. It looks wonderful. As a fellow stitcher I know just how long something like that takes.

  18. Sorry that you've been having coughs and colds. It seems to be 'that' season. Belated birthday wishes to you. As you say, good thing you weren't sick for that.
I love the colours you've chosen for your crocheted blanket. I wish I would have learned to crochet. It looks like both fun and useful too.
