Little Robin Red Breast

Thank you for all your lovely comments. I can understand why Hyacinths would give some of you a migraine, it is a very heady smell. I take them out of the living room when my son comes with his pregnant girlfriend. She's been having such rough time with sickness that I certainly don't want to risk making it any worse with the scent from such strong flowers. Poor thing is having quite a bit of pain too on either side other growing bump, she 's putting it down to growing pains and had a similar experience with her other pregnancy. Second scan in a couple of weeks, they're hoping to find out the babies gender too. I must admit to being quite excited to know if I'm going to have a grandson or granddaughter!

This is a little felting kit I've had put away for a while

It's a sweet little Robin like Kirsty Allsopp made in one of her crafting programmes. Everything was included, perhaps enough to make 2 birds even.

I stabbed away, using the white wool then building the colour over the top.

I found the hardest, and most fiddly, part to be the beak. I need beak practise!

He is a cute little fellow though and will look good with a little cotton loop through his head so I can hang him on this years Christmas tree.

After the beautiful white Hyacinth, I had to pick up this blue one, it's so pretty

and these lovely Daffodils, though they are a bit tall and floppy!

I've changed the mantle for spring, there's rather a lot on it, but I never really was one for minimalism and it does look rather nice with bunnies and sheep bounding about

The house has candles that are lit in an evening, looking very cosy.

I so need spring to arrive this year. I think we've had quite a mild winter really, but I'm yearning for some warmth and better weather, daydreaming about sitting in the garden surrounded by flowers, doing some crochet or reading a book with the sun warming me. I keep seeing signs here in peoples lovely blogs and on IG, lots of Snowdrops and Crocuses.

Have a lovely weekend
Take care

I would love to have a go at needle felting but do I really need to add another craft to my full to bursting dining room....we shall see....I may not be able to resist...lol.

  4. Love the robin, but I don't think I have the patience for needle felting. My daughter is pregnant, only about six weeks to go and she has Hyperemisis, which is extreme morning sickness. She had it with her first pregnancy too. Has to inject herself twice a day during the pregnancy and for a few weeks after as well as taking some anti-sickness pills. Only saying this because your daughter-in-law may be suffering from that if she is really bad with it. I must admit I never had morning sickness when I was expecting my daughter. Didn't suffer with anything really, except swollen feet and hands towards the end.

  6. Lovely robin, he is adorable. Did your fingers survive? I've never tried it ( yet ) but my friend did and she said it involved lots of swearing as she kept stabbing her fingers?!!

  7. The robin is cute, it will look nice on the Christmas tree. Maybe you should make another one so it will have a friend. I like your mantel decorations - the bunnies are adorable. I am looking forward to spring's arrival too. We could do with warmer weather and more sunny days. x

  9. I do sympathise with your son's girlfriend, I had terrible sickness with both my pregnancies, the second time it lasted the whole nine months. I couldn't even do the shopping because the smells in the supermarket set me off, it was a good excuse to delegate the shopping to Mick. Your little robin is so cute and I was going to suggest that he'd look good on the Christmas tree but I see you've had the same thought.

  10. I love your Spring mantle and the little robin is really cute, he will look grand on your Christmas tree :-)
I'm not sure I want to know what my daughter will be having, i'm hoping that they will wait, although i suppose it does make buying (or making) things easier.

  11. Oh, how pretty that sweet little birdie is. You are very clever, Cheryl. It looks as if Spring is beginning to sing a most colourful tune over there. I love Hyacinths....and their gorgeous fragrance.

  12. Your felted robin looks wonderful. I tried it once but couldn't seem to get the hang of it. Maybe I'll give it another go as yours looks beautiful.
