Mermaid's Tail

Thank you so much for your lovely comments about my food last week. I'm very pleased to report back that I lost 5 1/2lbs at the end of that week, then 2lb last week, so a good start.

I keep meaning to take photographs of the mermaid tail I made Imogen last year. I had planned to make it as a Christmas present, but gave it to her early so she could start using it straight away.

I used a shell crochet stitch, hoping it would look like the scales on the tail.

Crocheted it in aran using pink, brown and cream

I left a gap about halfway down the back of the tail so Imogen could put her feet in and pull the rest over her without having to wriggle into it

I made the tail separately and attached it when I'd finished

I'm pleased to say that Imogen loves it and sits or lays on the sofa looking just like a proper little mermaid (it was all she wanted to be when she was little... sigh). It's really warm and very cosy, I'm so pleased I made it for her.

I haven't done any crochet this side of Christmas, but I have been keeping my fingers busy. I'm not too far from finishing my Bambi cushion front that Andrew bought me for Christmas.

I've really enjoyed doing it, very therapeutic to sit in an evening stitching and seeing the cute picture come to life. Not much left to do, though it will also need a back made for it.

Take care
xxx

  5. Well I tried to leave a comment from my ipad last night and it kept clicking me off....we'll see how this goes. I hope you aren't getting a bunch of half finished comments! About your last post, I always write out meals for the week then make my grocery list from that. It is so helpful. I've been doing that for about a year now, and it seems I can no longer get groceries for the week without the process of meal planning first!
This post, what fun to snuggle up in a mermaid tail. My nieces would have loved that!
    Congratulations on the weight loss.
And, I started following you on Instagram.
    Have a great weekend.

  6. Hello Cheryl - Well Done You! Losing such a lot of weight in so short a time - the meal planning is doing well, isn't it? Just don't overdo it, will you?
What a lovely mermaids tail you have made for Imogen! I particularly like the shape of the tail - very pretty.
It is the best part of these long, dark Winter evenings, to sit beside the fire with some stitching - you have done well with your Bambi project!
It has been lovely , catching up with you again!
    Have a brilliant weekend!

  11. That mermaid's tail is amazing. An acquaintance of mine asked me to make one for her daughter, there was no way I was going to spend that much of my time making this for someone I barely know. Yours is fantastic.
