What a blissful afternoon I'm having. Columbo, disaster movies, a potter in the garden and lots of crochet.
I've just made a small rug for the dining room. It's space that needs a rug and we've already had one there, but unfortunately the cat decided to use it.... yuck, cat pee is not the smell I want to greet people who come into our house! The rug itself was beyond saving and we really didn't want to buy another to end up with the same predicament. I wanted something I could throw into the washing machine if needed so I dug out my stash of t shirt yarn and set to with the hook.
It hooked up quickly, but also ate the yarn very quickly. Ideally I'd like it to be a bit larger so may add to it in the future.
It was surprising how quickly it started to weigh down and get quite heavy. As you can see it's a large Granny Rectangle (as opposed to a Granny Square).
Our front garden is a constant bug bare of mine. It's not a very big space and we use it to park the car. We haven't had it paved for a couple of reasons, the expense being one and the lack of drainage that's been caused by so many people paving their gardens being another. I'm forever trying to find ways to tidy it up and one of the things I like to do is have a few pots just outside. We have a Hydrangea and an Evergreen bush in a couple of the pots, but one had lots of trailing Petunias which were starting to look quite scruffy.
I picked up these lovely little Cyclamens from Aldi yesterday, there was even a pot left over for me to have some inside.
While talking of flowers, look at the beautiful Roses my darling husband bought me. They don't last long, but are rather stunning while they're there.
So back to my lazy Saturday afternoon. My feet are up, the box is on, cup of tea at my side and I've started crocheting a Christmas present...
Have a lovely weekend
Take care

DeleteI am going to have to look into this t shirt yarn, it looks good as a rug. Your afternoon sounds great, I had a busy day but a good one.
ReplyDeleteSometimes its nice just to potter x
DeleteThat rug is gorgeous!! You are so clever!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, thank you x
DeleteLove the rug , and the roses....xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, bit of colour in the house x
DeleteIt sounds like a perfect afternoon. The rug is wonderful and I like that you can add to it if you feel it isn't large enough.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
I think I may add to it, but its hard work on the wrists so will leave it a bit x
DeleteHello Cheryl - how lovely your rug is, certainly something to be very proud of - and the fact that it's washable is brilliant. Your love of your garden and plants shines through, and the cyclamen are beautiful. And your Saturday afternoon sounds absolutely perfect!
ReplyDeleteTake care and have a wonderful week!
Best wishes,
Lynda.
Thank you, hope your week is a wonderful week too x
DeleteThe C word!! The C word!! You used the C word!!!
ReplyDeleteThe rug looks lovely. I love those colours, and am in awe of you for 2 reasons; a. you made the rug at all b. you had t shirt yarn in your stash?? How awesome are you? Hope your Sunday is as much fun as your Saturday sounds!
Your rug is fabulous, let's hope the cat leaves this one alone. It sounds like you had a lovely Saturday, I hope that's continued in to today.
ReplyDeleteI love your rug and the colours your using in your crochet 😊
ReplyDeleteYour day sounds like wonderful bliss!! Hope you enjoyed it a lot! xx
ReplyDeleteI love the rug & your Saturday too. I've bought some cyclemens too still not planted though! x
ReplyDeleteI love your rug, i've been googling how to make t-shirt yarn but i haven't got enough old t-shirts yet, lol.
ReplyDeleteYour rug is fabulous. I made one a few years ago with strips of tartan - almost pure wool. It got very heavy to work with before long. It worked out quite expensive for a small rug but I really love it. Your new crochet project is looking lovely already - gorgeous colours.
ReplyDeleteYour rug is amazing...such a great texture and colour!
ReplyDeleteHappy new week!

Lovely roses, and the cyclamens are beautiful. We have some here and i love the pretty leaves as much as the blossoms. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd i have to say that i love Columbo. Husband and i live to watch the reruns on Netflix. (A couple of weeks ago, i foolishly decided i no longer wanted Netflix, but then a week later i changed my mind.) The cold rainy Pacific Northwest winter months are coming.. Yep Columbo is a fave, and i love his bassett hound Dog. Just one more thing... :)
Gosh, I just went back and read my comment. We love to watch Columbo, not live to watch it. Lol. I love the Netflix, but I don.'t live for it. :)
