I don't seem to be very good at getting bargains, but isn't it a good feeling when we uncover one. I 'd been looking for some shelves for the dining room, but nothing really appealed to me, then I found a dusty looking top half of a dresser looking a bit sorry for itself. I knew straight away it was 'The One' and felt giddily excited as I asked Andy if we could fit it in the car (Andy is a master fitter inner in our cars, sometimes defying natural laws of space and dimension)
Cleaned and ready to be painted and pampered
A couple of coats of paint and a good covering of wax turned these unloved shelves into something pretty
I think they look just right holding some pretty china
I really love them, definitely worth waiting to find the right ones and spending the time on them, they make me smile when I go past them!
Another bargain this week... some yarn at Hobbycraft working out at 60p a ball
The photo doesn't do it justice, you can't see all the sparkles! I have some nice plans for it, just need to run them by Miss Imogen first.
Take care

DeleteHey Cheryl,
ReplyDeleteWhat a score on the furniture! I love upcycling furniture. I found something similar to yours when we first moved to St Ives. It looked very unpromising, but after I painted it and added my Torquay Ware it looked brilliant. It has pride of place in my kitchen, and is still my favourite find. I love the colour that you have painted yours too.
Leanne xx
It's amazing what a spot of paint can do x

How gorgeous, that colour is fabulous. Your hubby could be employed full time at IKEA to advise those loons who buy stuff that they never know how to fit in their car. I love having a cuppa and a window seat in the café to watch their antics and guess at their marriage threatening 'discussions' over who's fault it was! The best was a guy who not only had a dining table which had to be unpacked to fit but he was also accompanied by three women who looked like Marge Simpson and her two sisters who appeared to be free with their advice AND kept plonking random stuff in the boot when his back was turned. Priceless, so treasure your spacially aware hubby.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, thank you x
DeleteDidn't you do well Cheryl, and don't they look lovely cradling your sweet china and knick-knacks!
