Crochet and My Latest Read

I really should try to be more imaginative with my post titles, but I'm afraid the above pretty much describes what's going on!

I've just finished reading a book by Emma Donoghue 'Room'

It's narrated with a 5 year old voice, which made me a little wary at first, though once I'd picked it up I didn't want to put it down again. It absorbed me utterly, I felt like I was in the small 12 x 12 space with them and felt a bit jolted when I had to return to 'life' again! Highly recommend.

My children are very far from being babies, and no grandchildren on the horizon yet... but when I saw this, I had to make it.

Sweetest little owl cocoon with a cute little hat.

I really enjoyed making it (even though I don't know any babies), and it was the first time I tried crocheting crocodile stitch - always good to learn a new stitch.

I'm now making another one... for Christmas this time

Quite a bit to go...

Take care

  4. I loved Room and couldn't put it down either but my friend hated it - it seems to be a book that really divides people. The cocoon is so sweet - looking forward to seeing the Xmas one. x

  6. I worried that Room would be very upsetting to read. Your cocoon is really nice, I just love owls, especially in crochet form. :)

  11. I'm glad I'm not the only one who made baby things and didn't have any babies.
I made several things well before I had any gradchildren, I just love knitting and small things just fitted the bill. They don't want my knitting now. lol. it doesn't have any smart logo's. lol

  12. I haven't read Room, but by coincidence I'm currently reading a book which is also narrated by a five year old. The cocoon is so cute. I've never followed a crochet pattern and have never heard of crocodile stitch, definitely beyond my capabilities.
