Thank you for the lovely comments about my craft room, I'm so lucky to have a small space of my own.
In the spirit of tidying up my crafty bits and pieces, I've been trying to sort out and tidy my embroidery threads. I used these little bobbin cards that came with the storage boxes, I also had some plastic ones I'd found on Amazon that are pennies to buy.
I have this little bobbin winding gizmo to wind the threads onto the cards with, it couldn't be any easier to use.
It slides easily onto the sides of the storage box, it keeps it stable while you're using it.
I have to be honest though, I found it much easier to just wind the thread on by hand, quicker too.
My latest cross stitch project is a Christmas stocking for my gorgeous new grandson, Zackary. I think it's so cute, obviously it'll be saying Zackary at the top.
I've made a start, but have a long way to go, I do wish cross stitching could be a bit faster. I only really like to do it in the daylight otherwise my poor eyes struggle a bit. I do most of my crafty things in an evening so have to try and find some time in the day for stitching.
I think it's time to sit down with a coffee and do a bit of stitching. Here's a photo of our beautiful grandson from when we were babysitting Saturday afternoon, how I adore that little face.
Take care

Having spent years doing fine cross stitch, as you are, I now can only manage 14 count Aida and do very little. I still have the same little gadgets as you!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite place to stitch is in the conservatory so there's plenty of light x
DeleteI know what you mean. I ball my yarn for knitting and crocheting by hand. Your craft boxes look so neat and organized. I love that Christmas stocking! What a sweet and thoughtful gift for Zachary.
ReplyDeleteI have a winder for my yarn too, helps it take up less room and stores more tidily x
DeleteHe certainly is a cute baby. Isn't it a joy making things for Grandchildren, I love the stocking.
ReplyDeleteHe makes my heart sing, I love being a grandparent x
DeleteAwww, what a lovely photo of Zachary, gorgeous boy. I have the same thread storage box as you and I use the gadget to wind the bobbins, I find it really easy to use. What a lovely gift the socking will be, something for Zachary to use year after year.
ReplyDeleteI find it makes my wrist ache from winding, whereas I'm ok when I wind by hand. I'm hoping it's a stocking that will be used for years x
DeleteThat's a nifty gadget you have. I don't have embroidery thread but my tapestry wool becomes a big mess sometimes. Your little grandson is adorable! Pat
ReplyDeleteThank you Pat, he is scrumptious though I know I'm rather bias x
DeleteHow interesting. I always wondered how they did that. You even have the threads assorted by colors, so convenient. That will be nice to make your grandson a Christmas stocking. He is so precious. I love to hear you like coffee too. I'm sipping on it right now reading your lovely blog.

I'm more of a tea drinker really, but I like to have a coffee now and then in an afternoon x
DeleteI miss cross stitching. Not done any for years but I used to have boxes and boxes of threads and more books and patterns than you could shake a stick at. It's a beautiful craft.
ReplyDeleteWhat a little sweetheart Zachary is. He looks so grown up in his little shirt bless him.
Hugs-x-
Thank you, he is a cutie pie x
DeleteZachery is a beautiful baby :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the Christmas stocking, I made one for Oliver and Joanne has asked me to make one for Bonnie but It will be for next Christmas, i'm not a fast stitcher!
Heheh, I have warned Zackary's parents it may be next Christmas x
DeleteI love doing cross stitch, haven't done any in a while. He is a little cutie that grandson of yours.........
ReplyDeleteIt's a while since I've picked one up, I do really enjoy it though x
DeleteZachery is soooo cute!!
ReplyDeleteI too like to cross stitch and have a couple projects in the works.
Thank you, I like having a few crafts on the go x
DeleteI can only cross stitch in the day time too, which means if I have a busy day I don't get to do it at all. Love the idea for winding the thread.
ReplyDeleteIt's frustrating isn't it, oh well, there's always something to do x
DeleteYour little grandson is just delightful Cheryl. I think that stocking will be beautiful. I started a kind of "tradition" when my first grandson was born & I made him a stocking & I fill it each year ... it has enough room for a book, a small toy & an outfit. I also started making him one christmas decoration each year (we are up to 2 now!!) & I shall continue this & enjoy it as he grows & we can maybe make the decorations together hopefully.
ReplyDeleteI bet it was a babysitting afternoon full of cuddles!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely his stocking will be, something to really treasure as he grows up.
Lisa x
What a precious grandson. The stocking will be a gift of love to treasure for his liefetime.
ReplyDeleteI have similar boxes for my ridiculously large thread collection but no bobbin winding gizmo. Something must be done.

Your post made me smile Cheryl, I bought one of the winders many years ago and it sits in the drawer as I to find it easier to wind my hand. Sometimes its very therapeutic to see a pile of bobbins filled with coloured thread.... eye candy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a Wonderful face; he is AAAdorable!
ReplyDeleteSo adorable, that is a wonderful photograph ... and I think Zachary will love his Christmas stocking.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
