Ouch!

I've been doing quite a bit of felting recently, so it had to happen... a big ouch, well to be fair, it was more of an almost ouch!

After my first experience with felting and those very sharp and barbed needles, tissues and plasters, I learnt my lesson fast. I bought myself some leather finger protectors, one goes on my thumb and the other on my index finger. I've had them a while now so the leather is nice and comfortable. Anyway, they saved my poor finger last night

If that was in my finger, I don't think I would have let Andy take a picture!

As you can see, I've been doing a bit of felting. I wanted to use a pretty gravy jug I'd found in a charity shop. It doesn't have it's saucer anymore and needed a bit of love

A little farmhouse with the washing blowing in the wind.

A little bush with pink flowers next to the house.

A hedge with a garden gate and a path leading to the house.

That was my bit of fun for the day (and watching Strictly of course), now back to the boxes and putting up the decorations for Christmas. It's looking a bit too chaotic for my liking at the moment, I think we may have collected too many decorations over the years, never thought I'd say that! I just want it up now so the boxes can be put away again and there are lots of twinkling lights and pretty things to look at.

Have you put up your tree and decorations yet?

Take care

  6. Oh my your gorgeous details in your felting are amazing. How on earth did you do such tiny and exquisite details. It is all so adorable. The jug is a perfect 'bottom' for your lovely little farmhouse, fence, hedge and flowers.......! Good luck with all those Christmas decorations.

  8. I absolutely love your felting creations, so amazing and beautiful. It doesn't bear thinking what your finger would have suffered without that protector.........I've always wanted to try working with felted wool and just yesterday I felted a wool shawl I knitted some time ago, it was far too itchy and scratchy for me to wear or gift, and I'm thinking it may make a lovely projects bag........I have a fear of those needles used for felting so will probably not venture there.

  13. Awww, they're so cute and pretty, I love things in miniature. I don't like to think what your finger would have looked without the protection, those barbed needles are vicious.

  14. It looked like it was your actual finger that got pricked from the first photo. Phew! Thank goodness for finger protectors! You've created another lovely scene using another thrifted find. So clever and creative.
We haven't put up any decorations yet except for our Advent calendar. We'll get our tree and get the boxes down from the loft one day next week. x

  15. Oh dear, that sounds very painful. I wonder if thumb protectors would be the way to go for my pillocky husband! The trees went up towards the end of last week, two days to decorate here, so many decorations collected over the years isn't there x

  19. Beautiful! I love your felting. I had a go at it earlier in the year and got frustrating because it didn't quite turn out how I wanted. I plan on giving it another go in the New Year.

  20. The cottage is brilliant! I am a sucker for anything house-ish. But poor finger! You are quite right, the protectors are a good idea.
My tree and decorations are up at last. We lost a couple of weeks with our guinea pig being ill/dying. Nobody felt particularly like calling it Christmas. But we're getting there slowly. And life goes on...
