Oh Christmas Tree

I'm starting to get a bit excited now, only one week left at school then the Christmas holidays will be upon us. All the decorations are up, the tree lights are twinkling, I've posted all my Christmas cards (I may sound a little smug here as I'm usually a bit of a last minute person) and wrapped quite a few presents. We've also started watching Christmas films, so far have watched Scrooge (the musical one with Albert Finney), The Grinch, Deck the Halls and The Santa Clause. I'm sure we'll watch another one over the weekend.

I took part in a Christmas card swap organised by Amy at Love Made my Home. I was paired with the lovely Jules from A Hidden Jem and she sent me this beautiful card

I love the holly and berries in the corner

With all this Christmas wonderfulness happening, I thought it only right that as I seem to be spending a lot of time felting, I should make something Christmassy. I had this wool roving in gorgeous shades of green.

I started with a polystyrene cone

and gave it a covering with the dark green.

Just with one of my coarser needles, I pricked and stabbed until the cone was covered.

Once covered, I started to build up with shades of green

When I was happy with the coverage and colour, I used thin strands of red and gold to make the tinsel and small baubles on the tree and a piece of gold to make a star for the top.

I hope you like it, I'm hoping to make some more with some different sized cones that I have so they can all sit together on the mantlepiece.

How are everyone else's preparations coming along?

Take care
xxx

Our preparations are going slowly. I still have cards to write and presents to buy. Hopefully we'll get our tree next week. We're very excited about that.

  9. What are preparations? I am approaching Christmas in the same way as David Cameron approached Brexit... it might happen, but don't ask what form it will take. It will just happen.
Your box should be with you by Monday or Tuesday, I'll ask again next week. Your box to me was the one at the post office, so I'm pleased to say your presents are under my tree & waiting for me. Thank you very much for the brilliant labels; I think I've left yours as a sort of lucky dip. Squidge and see which you want to open first!

  10. Your felted creations are so lovely.......I can imagine how magical they'll look when there's a little group of them on your mantle. I'm a little behind with my Christmas prep this year, my daughter-in-law is on a course of chemotherapy at the moment and with three little ones under six my son and his family need all the help I can give.

  11. Your little tree is beautiful. I love it. The decorations will be going up in our house today. Cards hopefully to be written this evening. My shopping was all done by the end of November but it still needs wrapping. Please do post a photograph of your trees all together when they are done. 🎄 X
