What a wonderful Bank holiday weekend we had, everything always feels better when the sun shines. I love the feeling when I open the curtains in the morning to be greeted by a beautiful clear blue sky. I like to fling open the french doors and drink my first cup of tea with the birds singing in the background (they tend to stay out of the actual garden because of the myriad of family pets).
We went to a car boot on Monday in a big field fall of stalls. The ground was a bit bumpy for my chair, but so worth it, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Here are some of my new happy things
I have such a weakness for bone china cups and saucers, and these are so pretty
I'm not sure what the original purpose or name for this dish is? It's very pretty though, and looks lovely in my dining room.
More happy, pretty things, I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it
Lots more goodies were purchased, I found a lovely stall full of wools and yarn and gorgeous wooden buttons, I'll have to take some pictures of the buttons to show you, so pretty. Imogen bought herself some small bottles of nail varnish and we all had ice cream to help us keep nice and cool.
A little more happiness on my kitchen window sill, I really didn't like having to drink school milk and found it quite torturous (I really don't like milk at all), but I do like the cute little glass bottles!
And some lovely fresh flowers
And lastly, I need to ask for some help. I've been busy crocheting a round cushion cover but can't find a cushion pad to put in it. I've only found them in one place, but they were horrible and dusty/dirty. Any suggestions please?
Take care

Did you want to buy one........? I do know of a site
ReplyDeleteJulie xxxxxxx
Yes please, I could do with a couple really!
DeleteI love those old school milk bottle too, and yet like you I hated the milk.
ReplyDeleteSorry, can't advise re. the cushion ... except to say have you tried an Etsy supplies search?
Will do, thank you
DeleteI'm sure you can get round cushion pads in Ikea. I know they definitely sell them at The Fent Shop in Skipton, but they don't do mail order. The bank holiday was lovely, wasn't it, as you say, so much nicer when the sun shines. I love all the things you bought, especially the square dish. I hated school milk, and I still don't like milk now, but I too love those little bottles.
ReplyDeleteSkipton's a bit too far. I could try and persuade hubby to do an Ikea trip if nothing else pans out, thank you.
DeleteI've just had a look on Ebay. If you search under round cushion pad you'll find some on there.
ReplyDeleteThank you, we tried there a few days ago to no avail, will try again :)
ReplyDeleteDo you have a Dunelm Mill near you? I've just had a look and they sell them there. They do mail order, but it costs.
DeleteIt was my first port of call, but they were on a top shelf and so dirty :( Thank you so much for looking x
DeleteI buy mine from these people. I buy the feather ones because there is no difference in the price between feather and fibre. Quick delivery - helpful and very reasonably priced too.

Thank you, I'm really glad I asked, appreciate the help xx
DeleteWhat lovely things! Your punchbowl is beautiful. I'd be happy too! And pretty flowers. Yes, blue sky in the morning is a good thing. So very motivating.
ReplyDeleteSo many lovely things! : ) I love shopping for pre-loved goods.
ReplyDeleteI could have spent all day looking and stroking :)
DeleteLove those milk bottles on the windowsill.
ReplyDeleteI've used this website for cushion pads before, they are good.

thank you, I will go have a peek x
DeleteLove all your finds. Milk bottles do make sweet vases!
ReplyDeleteThey are cute and I love the old school reminder x
Deletewell that's a coincidence, that's what i am making too. Maybe on e-bay there will be some. i was actually looking for some cotton round covers, but couldn't find any! nice to meet you, Heather x
ReplyDeleteGreat boot fair finds Cheryl! The china cups and saucers are so pretty, and I love the little dish too.
ReplyDeleteI made my own round cushion pad by cutting a two circles of fabric using a round tray as a template, sewing them together and filling it with filling from an old cushion. They are quite hard to find at a good price, so I shall check Julie's link above too - thanks Julie.
Gill xx
I'm thinking I may do this too as with postage it seems a bit pricey.
DeleteYou could knock one up out of an old sheet and some toy stuffing that your local yarn shop will stock. Draw two circles on the sheet and machine them together?
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty vintage glass and china, you found some lovely treasure

I've seen a lot of round cushions on Etsy. I have bought a number of plain cushions to make covers for on Etsy and there are some good prices there.
ReplyDeleteThe spoon is adorable - a great find! Jx
ReplyDeleteLovely finds particularly the tea cups. I hated school milk too - it's surprising how many of us did isn't it? I can't imagine children being forced to eat or drink something at school now.
ReplyDeleteI made a round cushion once and just took a square pad and rounded off the corners. It's not perfect but it was so much cheaper than the ones I found online at the time - the pad itself was quite reasonable but the postage they were going to charge was ridiculous! I hate to think how much it'll be now with the increase in parcel prices!
ReplyDeleteFantastic finds there.I still havent been to a boot sale this year!
ReplyDelete~ Hello, Cheryl.....The sun always brighten our days...and most certainly is over due for putting in an appearance....I have those 'wee' milk bottles.....soo cute! I do like your bootie finds...Most especially the glass jug, I have a thing for those!Good luck with your seat pad....they are a good bunch on here and I am sure you will be directed well...~ with 'twinkles' *** Maria x
ReplyDeleteLovely finds at the car boot - I love those teacups and saucers. I used to like milk at school. I think I'm in the minority! Round cushion pads - have you tried Amazon - they seem to stock most things these days.

Lovely finds, especially the pretty china cups and saucers. Not sure about the round cushion cover but maybe EBay?

Hello Cheryl. believe me I do understand your weakness!!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better than a good cup of tea from a fine bone china teacup and if you add to that a sunny day .... pure heavan!!
Fantastic finds! lovely cups and saucer sets and I do like that punch bowl and stand. What an unusual spoon.
Sounds like you have plenty of advice for the round cushion.
Many thanks for your comments on my last post.
keep well
Amanda :-)
Hello thank you for visiting me and commenting. What lovely things found. I especially like the floral dish very pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteHello Cheryl - it's nice to meet you and thank you for visiting my blog and 'joining up'!
ReplyDeleteYou have a very interesting place here and I'm really looking forward to 'checking out' some of your previous posts.
I made Lucy's round flower cushion too and had to make an insert myself - which wasn't too difficult cause I had the stuffing and fabric already, but buying one would have been easier! I hope you've managed to solve your problem by now!
Best wishes,
Joy
What beautiful finds I love teacups too! In fact I like everything that you found! I'm new to your blog I found you at Gill's & I'm your newest Follower! And when you have a minute please stop by, I love company and new friends are always welcome!
ReplyDeleteDo you have an old quilt? Don't chuck it out, cut the circle size you want (as many of them as you need to get the thickness you want). Sew all the edges together and then make a permanent cover for it out of spare cotton fabric. Voila!
ReplyDeleteMay take some bother but you'd be surprised how many cushions you get from one old duvet.
Linda
love your glassware, especially the dainty spoon! Re the cushion; try the Poundshops, if theres no round cushions there, do what I do and buy a pillow from there. They're hypoallergenic and a great inexpensive way to make your own cushion pads out of, and that fit too!

How gorgeous is that glass punchbowl?!
ReplyDeleteI used to love school milk - not so much in winter because I don't like cold drinks but in summer it was lovely. Lots of kids didn't like it warm, so I had theirs as well!
