Snow and First Word

The snow has been falling steadily all day, lightly and not settling at first, but then thick and fast soon becoming inches thick. I do think it looks so pretty out the window, but so great for those out and about in it (children being the exception of course!).

Imogen couldn't wait to pull her boots on when she came home from school and played outside until her small hands were frozen inside her woolly gloves!

Meanwhile, Phoebe has said her first proper word! We've had lots of imitating sounds (the phone ringing is particularly accurate... unfortunately!), whistles and trills, but we now have a very clear 'Hello'. Every time she says it I have to smile at my clever girl.

Before I go let me show you my lovely Swallows that Andrew treated me to. It's not the best picture, but I know just the place to hang them and I'll take another picture.

Here's one of the books Andrew bought me for Christmas 'The Happiness Project' by Gretchen Rubin. I've popped it next to my bed and I'm looking forward to having a dip in it tonight.

Don't you think my tablecloth is cute, loving chickens!

Take care

  3. No snow in our neck of the woods with the temperature expected to be 29C today and 39C on Thursday. It does look lovely but it would be sooooo cold.
Loving the chooks on the tablecloth, very cute.

  4. Please let me know how that book is, it sounds good, I just looked it up on Amazon, I love books and I'm always looking for a good one!
Snow!!! Yay! My cockney told me that he got a bit in London but it didn't really stay, so I'm glad you got some! Nothing like white stuff in the winter! I mean if it's got to be cold anyway, might as well have some snow with it!!

    1. It is interesting, about enhancing what you already have. More snow today :)

  5. Goodness, you did get a lot of snow! We had a few flakes, and then it rained (predictably!) and hasn't stopped since. Welsh farmers will be switching to growing rice if this keeps up much longer!

    Love the bluebirds :D

  6. We got a bit of snow yesterday, but it didn't hang around long, there's only bits of it left now, though it's trying it's best to snow again. It looks like Imogen was happy to have some snow though. How clever is Phoebe? You'll have her reciting nursery rhymes soon. You'll have to let us know what you think of The Happiness Project, it sounds fascinating, and I love the table cloth.

  10. I love the quiet 'hush' the snow brings, when falling, Cheryl. I am glad your young ones pulled on their boots and went out to enjoy! HOT Chocolate, to the ready no doubt! hehe..
LOVE your Swallows, I received a lovely brooch for Christmas and it is very similar to those pretty birds...
Take Care, and keep cosy Brrr cold here!
Jack Frost has been out and about.

  11. No snow here in Dublin. All we are getting is mild and damp. I'd love some real weather.
We have a budgie who says one or two words. Budgie is one of them and we will not mention the other B word he shouts. The joys of living in a mainly male house.

  12. No snow here , though we did have flurries very briefly on Sunday afternoon before it turned back to rain. It's not even frosty here this morning which is very odd as it felt really cold last night and the local forecasters keep talking about how low the temperatures were overnight.Love the tablecloth and your swallows. I have a little silver brooch bought for me years ago by a dear friend that has 'bluebirds of happiness' on it- they are very similar to your swallows.

  13. Our snow came back this week too! We have heavy snowfall here and it is not easy to take my son to school in the morning. We always look like two snowmen when we have reached his classroom. I´m really looking forward to spring now.
I love your swallows, their colour is so lovely!
I wish you a wonderful week Cheryl!
